I love helping others don't get me wrong but my heart isn't with adults, it's with kids, it's with every child that is misunderstood, every child that finds it hard to communicate, it's with enabling children to feel seen and heard and loved and understood. That's what brings me joy, that's what makes me thrive, seeing the outcasts succeed and flourish as they are, not who everyone expects them to be.

@avant-garde oh this melts my heart to hear in so many ways. How i wish part of my story wasn't so hidden for safety reasons and then you'd understand why. There's so many kids that slip between the cracks so to speak cos they don't fit in with the "norm", it breaks my heart to see it and to see the judgement they get from others for being different.

No one should slip through the cracks and if I can stop just 1 child from going unnoticed I'm going to do everything I am able to ensure that happens. 

Every. Child. Matters.

You can tell this is what ignites my soul. 

I'm sure I would be a great peer support worker, but from my own experience, libraries are where the quiet and withdrawn tend to steer towards and so that's where I need to be. They need someone like me to help them navigate a world that may never quite understand the beautiful children they are and people they can become.

I 100% agree that you would make an amazing peer support worker. Libraries are definitely where the quiet and withdrawn tend to spend alot of their time, usually as a way to hide but to also feel a sense of belonging by immersing themselves in a world full of books full of fairy tales and places where they can let their minds wander, taking them away from their troubles in the real world.

But I became a librarian for a reason and it's not to be a peer support worker, it's to help kids and parents navigate the world even when it's scary

@avant-garde i hear you sweet. Being a librarian for you would enable you to also help kids and parents. 

What's the barrier to getting a job in a library? Is it just a lack of positions available, cos it sounds like you've got the qualifications for it.

Over qualified for entry level positions that don't need experience

No experience for positions that need my qualifications

Please don't try and problem solve this, that simply frustrates me.

@avant-garde no, I'm not at all sweet. Was just curious as to the reasons why. 

It sounds very frustrating to be stuck, knowing what you want to do but unable to achieve it yet.

Thanks, i have that conversation with people a lot. Actually might write a poem about that tonight...

I've found other ways to get experience, they're more unorthodox but it's getting there

@avant-garde i totally understand it. Sometimes it's not problem solving we want or need, it's just feeling heard and validated. There's nothing worse than someone jumping in saying try this, do that, have you thought about this etc.

It doesn't matter if there unorthodox, if it gets you closer to where you want to be and what you want to do then that's all that matters.
